Regina Keelan Bass
Regina Keelan Bass has been a lawyer since 1975. She practices exclusively in the areas of matrimonial law, including complex dissolutions of marriage, spousal maintenance, child custody and support and prenuptial agreements, and is licensed in both Missouri and Kansas. As a matrimonial lawyer, Ms. Bass has had extensive litigation experience. Ms Bass has also been trained to be a matrimonial arbitrator by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) Arbitration Training Institute. She has acted as an arbitrator, (a private judge), in dissolutions, support, custody and visitation disputes.
Ms. Bass was a founding partner of Thayer, Bernstein, Bass & Monaco, PC. from its inception in 1983 and continued as a partner of Thayer, Bernstein & Bass, PC. until December, 1999. On January 1, 2000, Ms. Bass formed her current firm, Bass Family Law Firm, Inc. (formerly the Regina Keelan Bass Family Law Firm, LC) in Kansas City, Missouri.
Ms. Bass received her undergraduate degree in English from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1972. She received her law degree at University of Tulsa College of Law in 1975. Ms. Bass is active in the Missouri Bar and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association Family Law committee. She has been a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) since 1983. She was a Family Law Section Council representative for the Missouri Bar Family Law Section (1993-1994). She served as past Chair of the Family Law Committee (1991) of the KCMBA. She was the Missouri delegate to the AAML Board of Governors from 1988-1992 and Missouri AAML Chapter President from 1987- 1988. She served as Vice-Chairman of the Missouri Bar Commission on Professionalism from 1996-1997. She has been in the Best Lawyers in America in family law since its 1987 edition, and listed in the Top 50 Female Lawyers in Missouri and Kansas in Super Lawyers Magazine for the past 3 years, and is AV rated with Martindale Hubbell.
She has spoken at numerous state and local legal education seminars and written articles on mediation and arbitration for the MoBar and the AAML. She has presented the Family Law Section of the Annual Law Update for MoBar for the past 3 years. Ms. Bass' personal philosophy about handling family law matters is to aggressively help her clients and lend the legal process as much dignity and compassion as possible.
